WHO IS THIS COACHING FOR?
A Sounding Board Session is perfect for self-directed individuals or couples in need of input around a plan or strategy.
To get ‘more’ of what you want, occasionally you need a little help from the outside.
It’s true you become like the people you hang with. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have rich friends, and if we do, talking about money isn’t always easy.
Thankfully, wealth can be ‘imparted’ by professionals, like me, who resides outside of your circumstances.
Over 20 years of providing one-on-one advice, I’ve observed what works, and what doesn’t. Good advisers work with people across the wealth and social spectrum over a long period of time, before they meet with you.
You could keep browsing socials for tips and tricks, or meet with someone who’s ‘walked the walk’, seen it all before, and wants to make you rich.

MEET YOUR PERSONAL COACH

Darcy Ungaro
Financial Advisor @ Ungaro & Co, Husband, Father, and Host of the Everyday Investor Podcast .
Meet Darcy Ungaro, a qualified financial adviser who believes wealth creation begins in the mind before it hits an investment account. The world’s changing and ‘just enough’, may not be enough, for a future that feels more expensive and uncertain. Darcy spends time nerding out on money matters, then helping people learn how to build, and safeguard, that which they already have.
Darcy advocates new ways of thinking to be prepared for the seismic shifts in technology, demographics, and bigger governments.
COACHING OUTLINE
1- Check your wealth foundations.
Building wealth needs a strong foundation of reliable income, controlled spending, and thoughtful investment. This isn’t a ‘budgeting session’, rather, an honest look at what lies beneath.
- What are some ‘easy wins’ with your insurance, KiwiSaver, or mortgage settings?
- What are some of the behavioural and structural items you can control.
- What balance between lifestyle goals, and financial objectives should there be?
………………………………………………………………………………………………..
2- Considering ‘the end in mind’.
After considering your goals, and your ability to reach these goals, let’s discuss your strategies.
- Are you trying to ‘order off the menu’? Are you actually able to hit the goals you’ve been setting?
- What are some of the strengths, weaknesses of your current strategy, and is there an opportunity for improvement?
- What are the trade-offs and are you managing them well? Repay the mortgage or invest? Shares or property? A nicer home or another rental?
………………………………………………………………………………………………..
3– Time to consider taking action.
Talking about it helps, but nothing beats action – now, it’s your turn to take it from here.
- Lets consider the actions you’ll need to take to reach your goals? How much should you invest to create the investment income you need?
- Model some variations to our base scenario we discuss to plot out alternative destinations.
- Before we finish, let’s review the answers you needed or the solutions required. Now, it’s up to you!

FAQs
Q: What can I expect in terms of output from taking these sessions?
A: You’ll have up to 2 hours of meeting time with Darcy Ungaro over one session, via Microsoft Teams. You’ll receive a report of your current situation, and the items we discussed.
Q: What can’t I expect from these sessions?
A: Advice and strategies will require your implementation. No ‘product’ recommendations will be made. This is not a sales pitch for managed funds, shares, properties, mortgages, insurance, or KiwiSaver.
Q: Are these sessions upgradeable or modular?
A: The 2hr Sounding Board Session is meant for self-directed DIY investors in need of occasional oversight, property lovers looking for strategy, pre-retirement Gen-Xer’s in their prime, and those in the ‘final approach’. A sounding board session works very well with a Pre-Purchase Coaching Session.
Q: Is there anything I can do to prepare for this coaching session?
A: Yes! As soon as you’ve booked the meeting, you will be emailed some ‘homework’. It’s at this point where you’ll articulate the problem(s) you want help with solving or the questions you require answers on.
Q: Are there any online courses that come with a coaching session?
A: Yes! The New Wealth Foundations course contains both beginner, intermediate, and advanced online video lessons with the occasional quiz. Enjoy 90 days free access to over 3 hours of personal finance, investment basics, and intermediate strategies.
Q: Is this financial advice, and is this financial planning?
A: Darcy Ungaro is not qualified to provide tax or legal advice, however, he is a qualified financial adviser with investment, insurance, and lending strands.
Financial advice is defined as recommendations to acquire or dispose of ‘financial products’ (like specific managed funds, individual shares, KiwiSaver, Insurances, or Mortgages). The Sounding Board Session is not ‘financial plan’, but will touch on some similar areas. In this session, Darcy Ungaro is a life coach who only talks to you about how to become wealthy.
Q: Are there any ongoing fees?
A: No. The Sounding Board Session is for the self-motivated, DIY ‘implementers’. There are no ongoing costs and you can engage us whenever advice is needed.
Q: Are there any refunds?
A: No. We follow a strict advice process where we require a clear scope upfront detailing the advice you require. If we’re unable to offer the type of advice you’re after, we won’t agree to the sessions. There are no refunds if you don’t like the advice. If you have a partner, get them started in the process early on.
Q: Can play well with other advisers?
A: Absolutely! Because you’re not signing up to a cult, an ‘open relationship’ with other advisers is very much encouraged.
Q: Are there any limitations?
A: This coaching session is ‘low-resolution’ financial advice, and no specific recommendations on particular managed funds, shares, or investment properties will be provided.
If you’re ready to push through the easy times, hard times, and every time in between, this style of financial advice for you.
